The Gassert Grandchildren:

The Gassert Grandchildren:

I have known Melody since high school.  The more I know her the more I admire her. You may recall Melody lost her husband Danny last Jan, hard to believe it’s been a year. Not long after the loss of her husband, she gets a call from her sister-in-law and asked her to help make funeral arrangements for her great niece of 11-years. How strong is she? She wasn’t sure she would be able to do it but she flew out and helped while giving God all the honor and glory even during the most difficult times, and I admire that. She commissioned us to photograph her three grandchildren with their cars. The cars have sentimental meaning to the grandchildren as it does to Danny’s children and daughter’s in law. The Gasserts joke is “they bought their grandchildren their first car”. Well when Danny found out he was sick, he asked Melody to order the third and final car, the youngest grandson (Dylan) was only 6-months old at this time. Mel went ahead and ordered it, as sick as Danny was he started putting the car together, taking breaks and working on it again. Danny was very good with his hands, one of the many gifts he had. He could fix or build just about anything. Darrell (his brother) came over to help him finish building and decaling the car when Danny was too weak. So when you look at the cars and appreciate the story behind them, they were built by their grandfather with love. The cars will be handed down to the next generation. Thank you Melody for showing me the strength of your faith, never wavering and for being a great example to us all. May God continue to bless you and your family. It's been one year ago today Dan went to heaven.
